​Noise is calculated on the basis of a common Nordic noise calculation called Nord 2000. The Danish Environmental Protection Agency sets the recommended limit values based on a balancing of the effects of the noise on people and socioeconomic considerations. The recommended limit value for road noise in Denmark is 58 dB, which is an average value.

A wide range of factors determine the level of noise coming from a road and how this noise is perceived by people. It depends on, inter alia, the traffic, road type, the physical surroundings and the weather.

According to figures from the EIA (Environmental Impact Assessment) from 2008, the construction of the motorway will result in approx. 120 fewer dwellings being impacted by noise exceeding 65 dB and approx. 100 fewer dwellings being impacted by noise exceeding 58 dB.

Noise-reducing asphalt will be laid on the entire motorway section, which will reduce the noise contribution from the motorway but not the noise in the area.

In addition, noise barriers or noise embankments will be established in several places. The length and design of the noise barrier are often not decided until later, based on architectural assessments, among other things.

Residents in dwellings along the covering at Gødvad Bakke will experience less noise than before the construction of the motorway.

Of course, traffic on the motorway may be heard in areas where there have so far been no significant sources of noise. This applies to, inter alia, the new residential area in Hvinningdal and Balle/Buskelund and the recreational areas in Fladmosen and Kejlstrup Skov.
