About the project

The Holstebro motorway will be approx. 40 km long. The alignment will run from Holstebro N (route 11) to Sinding northwest of Herning and further on to Snejbjerg where the motorway is connected to the existing principal highway (route 15) south of Herning.

At Gødstrup there will be a connection to the new regional hospital. The project also includes an extension of Nordre Ringvej northwest of Holstebro. The road is extended to Vilmelmsborgvej.

Along the stretch, there are 8 interchanges, valley bridges across two large streams, a fauna bridge, eco passages and a number of large bridges leading local roads and the railway over or under the motorway.

The total construction project for the motorway is DKK 3.855 bn.

The Danish Road Directorate expects that the motorway section between Snejbjerg and the road link to the new hospital in Gødstrup will open in 2017 while the rest of the motorway will open in 2018.

When the Holstebro motorway opens in 2018 the travel time to Holstebro and Northwest Jutland will be reduced and it will be safer to travel the section. At the same time, the motorway will ensure good access conditions to the new regional hospital in Gødstrup.
