About the project

The Køge Bugt motorway is the busiest road in Denmark with an average of approx. 110,000 vehicles per day. This causes major problems with congestion on the 6-lane section south of <Greve S>. On 9 December 2010, the Danish parliament adopted a construction act for the expansion of the motorway from 6 to 8 lanes between <Greve S> and <Køge>.

The expansion is divided into two stages. Stage 1 covers the sub-section Greve S -Solrød S and a new interchange at Egedesvej. Stage 2 covers the stretch Solrød S - Køge. Stage 1 opened autumn 2015. Stage 2 will be ready by 2018.
The total length of the extension is 14 km .

While the Danish Road Directorate is expanding the Køge Bugt motorway from 6 to 8 lanes between Greve S and Køge Banedanmark will construct a new railway between Copenhagen and Ringsted.

Two major construction projects at the same time require a great deal in terms of cooperation between the authorities. Therefore, the Danish Road Directorate and Banedanmark are working closely together to coordinate the work and communicate with citizens, road users, businesses and other authorities.

We have created a shared folder on the two projects. On Banedanmark's website you can find more information about the railway project.
